Hi - I need help understanding how to automatically generate durations based on budgeted labour units (hours from my estiamte). I can't change the hours allowed for an activity or task and I am having to manually input durations - how can I fix this?

you have 2 options
option #1 change the duration type to either Fixed Units or Fixed units/time
think of the term FIXED units being your manhours so when you manhour changes (units) this drives the duration.
option #2 also change the activity TYPE to RESOURCE DEPENDENT
if you are going to export and import your manhours make sure that the calculate cost from unist is NOT checked if it is run a global change to change to to NO.
also make sure that the Resources can be assigned to the same activity more than once is NOT checked this is in the project directory under the Resources tab. If this is checked and you import the resource again it will be duplicated.

I suggest to export to Excel and input the hours and then import back into P6.
This work fine and quick.
