Hi
I have a P6 Master Forecast File. I have attached the Baseline File (BL) and Last Month Status File (BL1).
When I compare dates shown in Last month P6 file the dates do not tie to the actual dates for activities concerned. I am stumped as to why I see incorrect actual dates in the previous month file.
Has anybody else encounteres this problem and what is it that I am missing or doing incorrectly?
TIA
yes if you use these columns BL Project Actual start and BL Project Actual Finish
BL is baseline file so will not have same start / finish dates as compared to current forecast file
BL1 is previous month file which in theory should have same dates for historical activities as compared to current forecast file
unfortunately i do not see it and do not know why it does not show like that -
for example activity a with actuals (start / finish) in Aug last should match in the BL1 file.
you mean BL Project Actual start and BL Project Actual Finish
Baseline = BL
Previous Month = BL1
what is the name of the column are you using to reference the baseline actuals ?
Hi Zoltan -
Thanks for your response.
Yes - I assigned Baselines.
I made a copy of the Master Forecast file after wrapping up last months activities and then assigned it to the Master File as BL1. The Baseline File attached is Master Forecast File is the untouched baseline file.
I agree that Last months date will not match current month dates unless the dates were actualized prior to last month (which is what my problem is).
For example one of the activities was actualised in 8/2016. In theory I would expect to see BL1 Start to reflect 8/2016 which shows up as 1/2017. The interesting part is this date is tied to Planned Start Date in Master forecast File.
This makes it difficult to compare the dates as welll as asking right questions to the foreman / supertindent providing the status for current month.
Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
so you maintained baselines then Assigned baselines ?
The dates for last month will NOT match this months thats the whole point of comparing the.
As far as actuals go your actuals did you copy the previous months schedule before udpating the the current one and did you use that one as your baseline ?
