Hi all,
It is 2040 and we're working on a major infrastructure project, what do we think project planning will look like? What will we do differently to today? How will we monitor progress?
I would like to know your opinions on:
- what trends are emerging in the industry? 4D Planning, Drones, Social networking tools such as Projectplace, Lync etc? Others?
- how will these trends effect our industry as it is now;
- how you think the future of planning will look in 2040;
Any opinions welcome!
George
Thanks Patrick, an interesting read as with all your Mosaic white papers and blogs.
Zoltan, great comments thanks! Really good idea ideas, I can definitely see some of these things being the norm!
robots or more mechanical means of labor where by typical repetitive tasks will be performed by machines.
Drones will be used to deliver material to the project site.
Cameras will be EVERYWHERE and will record progress.
Building construction will be modular where by you can pick and choose elements and put them together to build whatever you want.
There will be no need to come into the office working from home will be the norm with online meetings and collaboration.
Demolition will be in the form of lasers.
I have just posted a blog on this subject 'The Future of Project Controls' but focusing on the next 3 to 5 years, see: https://mosaicprojects.wordpress.com/2016/11/26/the-future-of-project-controls/
