I have a cost loaded project with approximately 6k activities on a USACE project. So all of my schedule modifications monthly have to be detailed and documented appropriately. I am using XER as my claimdigger program because it is cleaner than P6's. But my team has created a new project schedule with new WBS, revising approximately 2500 relationships, and adding 1200 activities. Originally, we did not intend to use this revised schedule as the final. But of course now, we want to merge the two, using the old as the base file. Does anyone have experience taking on a task like this? I just was open to hearing people's strategies and what worked, didnt work for you.

Zoltan I have tried that in the 2nd section you have mentioned. I have seen primavera had maintained previous relationship. So when I imported xer file I see both old & new relationship. My solution is about this issue before import xer file scheduler have to remove all relationship.
adding the new ativities is easy the hard part is the revision of the existing relationships.
The very first thing to do is to open the original project and select send project and email this project to yourself.
Next open the revised project and select send project and email this project to yourself.
Now is something goes wrong you have a clean starting point again.
I always do this prior to making and MAJOR revisions and it has saved me tons of works in the past.
I would do the following but I would certainly spot check it throughly after it was done.
export the revised schedule as an xer
Open the original schedule
select file import and select the revised xer file and then select add to existing
during the importing process when you get to the update project options
in the 1st section under Data Type: Activity select update existing
in the 2nd section under Data Type Global: select update existing for everything
in the 3rd section under Data Type Project: select update existing except for the wbs select insert new
try that but check it aftewards
