In my opinion, you would benefit from site experience to understand the build process and to be able to gauge (from experience) the build ability of your programme. So many times, planners submit a programme that works on paper but is unbuildable. Give this opportunity a go to boost your planning skills but keep good trackers going and start your own black book of construction rates etc. Don't turn away from planning though as you have a grounding in P6. It will give you confidence to challenge trades and the programme in the future.

Good luck.
