I have recently moved to P6 R8.4 on a stand-alone machine, namely build #11214;
to my surprise, I have noticed that the Maintain Baseline dialog does not show the Update Baseline option; I have gone to the online help, and the Update Baseline is still mentionned;
how will I update a baseline as I was doing when using the previous releases of the software?
will Oracle-Primavera insert this option again in the software?

thanks for your answer; this way to do looks really stupid, it is a reason for me to go back to the previous release.
as usual, the help page has not been updated and still describes the "update" option

Yes, you are correct the update baseline has been deleted in P6 8.4.
The option available is to restore the baseline, modify to suit and maintain the new updated baseline. Then re-assign.
