Time required to develop your schedule on P6

Hi experts,

How long does it take you to develop your construction work programme on P6 for such a project:

- An advanced Finishing works (Finishes and MEP) for a hospital

- detailed construction schedule (duration must be less than 16 days for any construction activity)

- BU Area: 84,000 sqm

- 3 basement floors, 3 common floors and two towers: 8 & 10 floors, external works

- fully loaded with man hours and expenses

- a full range of activities (Engineering, procurement, construction, T&C)

- A proper CPM must be established (no constraint dates may be used in between)

-Number of activities: 8400 activity

a lot of this depens if you have the final design. Sometimes you have to buld a schedule in pieces based on teh deisgn that you curently have. Sometimes you have the strucutural portion of the design but the finishes are not yet designed so you shoudl block out a window duration so that whne you have the final design you can fit it into that window of time.

I would not rule out it taking a month to build out this schedule especially if you need input from all of the different Designers, Subcontractors, Suppliers and the owner.

Hi Ammar

Not that long - it seems that there is a lot of repetition.

I would prepare the schedule in Asta Powerproject and convert it to P6.

The last one I did was a 48 storey hotel in Saudi including a 7 level basement and podium.

Complete insitu concrete construction and fitout.

With a fully integrrated MEP and no task longer than 12 work days and fully resource modelled it took me 3.5 days to complete.

Working P6 I would expect it to take three times as long - say 12 days.

Best regards
