you can still give the activity 100% complete and have an actual finish date but leave the cost at a vlaue less than the budgeted amount.

I tired that but it didnt do what I wanted. My EV calculation is based on Physical % complete

Ah now you have point out the real issue. What you are talking about is unlinking the physical progress from the costs for billing for activities.

Go to the projects directory look at the calculations tab uncheck recalculate actual units when duration % complete changes

The contract document allows us to claim actual complete date for certain activites without claiming 100% complete so as not to restrain successor activities. This is for activities completed but we can not bill 100%

what you are asking to do is not logical look at your wording you want to "CLAIM" a completion date but you do not want to say that it is 100% complete. If it is NOT 100% complete then you cannot CLAIM a completion date. This is illogical. What you can do is say that the activity is 100% complete but NOT CLAIM a completion date.

By definition what you are trying to do is not correct.

Is there some reason why you want to do this ? Maybe you need to use suspend and resume or maybe you need to split the activity into 2 activities.

Hello Tom,

you can use the "Physical % Complete" or "Activity % Complete", when you check the finish date box, the progress of these two columns will keep unchanged.

If a task is finished it is 100% complete, if it is not finished it is not 100% complete and all scheduloing sofwtare works this way.

You could use a User Defined Field or the Physical % Complete may be set at 100% with an Actual Start but no Actual Finish.
