I read about PSP certification in forum. Recently I started to get ready for PSP exam because I am planning to immigrate to USA (Houston) and I thought maybe a good international certificate help me to find a better job(Am I right?) for your information I am a senior planner in middle east with 9 years of experience. As you know the only material list that is available is the one in AACE site. It contains 6 books and 3000+ pages. I just finished AACE’s Skills & Knowledge of Cost Engineering but I don't know is that enough? because it is a very detailed book and it's hard to memories line by line. and even if i memorize all 6 books cover to cover would that be enough? or there is other materials needed to pass that exam.Your help is very appreciated.
The PSP is one of 2 currently available scheduling certifications; PMI-SP is the other. You need to decide if your focus is scheduling (then choose between the PMI-SP or PSP) or project management in which case the PMP is your best option.
PSP is focused on construction scheduling and is administered by the AACEi. There are courses available but the exam is a paper based 8 hr. marathon.
PMI-SP is a typical PMI exam and available through 100s of exam centres world-wide. PMI-SP focuses on the knowledge needed by a planning manager.

Thanks for informing me. in contrast to PMP, not too many people seems interested in PSP. as you said there is only a limited number of PSP holders. a tough one! any preparation book?

PSP is a new term for me. would you please explain a little more. what is the contents and refrences? if there is any web-site, book or anything else can give me more details?

A PMP is much easier to obtain than a PSP. Unlike the PMP, no company guarantees that they can train you to pass the PSP exam. In fact, no company even tries to teach PSP preparation. The PMP has been around a long time and tens of thousands of people have it. The PSP only started in 2003 (I think) and only has around 250 certified holders. The PSP has a rather high level of failures in the testing process (exact figures unknown) while the PMP has a relatively lower failure rate (I do not have numbers to back up this claim, only ‘by word of mouth’.)
By way of showing my biases, I hold a PSP but never felt that it was worth my time and money to get a PMP. I know several PSP holders who feel the same way. Good luck!
