What is a Good Project Management Software?

I have a team for 55 resources who are seated at various locations. Monitoring

the project progress becomes very difficult, even with regular update

and daily scrums. So looking for a tool which can

- Manage project effectively and efficiently.

- Timesheet with approval mechanism

- Reports (Generic + customizable for top management)

- Project cost and health of the project at any given point of time

- Invoice and billing

- Resource management

- Collaborative tool

Dear Yashik,

I looked at ProofHub features and did not find anything about automatic scheduling and resource leveling.

If this tool is the best then others are even worse.

Tool selection depends on the user requirements. Here most people are involved in managing large and complex projects and need the tools that can help them to optimize their schedules and budgets and analyze project performance.

Dear Yashik,

please inform us what software from your list can calculate project schedule taking into account resource, funding and space constraints?

I'm going to vouch for Zenkit.

It's a project management tool designed to streamline collaborative work. Their 'switching views' feature allows you to navigate between collections seamlessly. Worth a look if you're a visual thinker.

Hello,

Just discovered this post with valuable tools and software. There are a lot of tools to try and I just came up when Googling "task management software" which is a complementary software for project management.

I know some here that use both task management and project management software. I find it very hard to use them both so I had to cancel down to only 1 software to manage my projects with my team.

Take a look at Hitask as one of the best task management software in the industry. It's great for small teams who like to approach projects with the GTD mindset.

Hope you guys like it.

Have a great day!

You have such a big team. Microsoft office is a great software. But it requires some time to master it and takes more time using the tool than doing actual project work. Have a look at this free team management software at https://fluxes.com/features/. It lets you manage project works effectively with large team. There are lots of simple features to make your life easy.

I  have used Trello, Redbooth, Assembla and Asana, but currently, I am using TaskQue. I especially like TaskQue because of its Queue Feature. Furthermore, if you individually want to track your performance, I think Wunderlist would work perfectly for you, otherwise, if you are managing a team, then go for TaskQue.

4. The software allows for easy communication among team members with the ability to save the discussion for those who were not present at the discussion. It also allows for sharing any kind of files.

6. Time tracking: time tracking is very flexible: choose whatever you prefer, single entry, weekly submissions or a built-in timer with a stopwatch functionality.

Hi, Nancy. I'm curious -- I glanced through the video, but didn't see any mention of CPM or critical path analysis. I'm curious -- does your package ahve a CPM algorithm and what metrics does it compute?

Hi David,

I think you should try eResource Scheduler software (I have added a quick tour video to make you understand its functionality) by Enbraun. It allows real-time tracking of your resources. It is a collaborative tool with configurable reports. It has automatic report generation feature, as far as you booked any resource against any project, you will be able to see reports (utilization, forecasting and financial). Not only this, you can extract the data to MS Excel and much more. To evaluate its features you can opt for free trial or personal web demo.

Thank you

Nice Thread Generally A Project Management Software gives you the power to simplify task management. It’s basically a team management system with which you can manage the work of your staff at one place.

S
Stephen Devaux 👤 Member for 21 years 2 months

David, if your project management software does not support critical path analysis, it is difficult even to call it "project management software", no matter how colaborative, customizable for reports, etc. it may be. Yet even if it does, everything is relative:

  1. If it claims to support critical path analysis but does not compute critical path drag, it is lacking crucial functionality.
  2. If it supports critical path analysis but does a poor job of resource bottleneck identification and/or leveling, that is a major flaw if you are in any way resource limited. (And what project isn't!)
