Time Unit --- HELP

Planners,

When I run the schedule, all activities are showing time for example: 27-Dec-2013 06:00Am to 29-Dec-2013 07:00Am. Whereas I have set 11hours work per day. I have even checked my user preferences, everything seems okay but this time i am unable to find the solution for it.

it should be 06:00Am to 05:00Pm.

Pls help asap. I have to submit this schedule by tomorrow.

Thanks

Mike, I wonder how P6 users keep track of all the traps, too many.

From: http://www.arcadis-us-pmcm.com/blog/fog-and-smoke-and-mirrors/

Primavera/Oracle’s P6 and more recent versions of scheduling software are even worse. The “flexibility” built into the software to permit the operator to “customize” its schedules has reached an extreme. An example of P6’s problems is that it cannot be downloaded to another file and then reloaded without unpredictable and random data changes. This means that the typical method of creating monthly updates becomes much more problematic. These issues are beginning to spark software competitors. (See, ENR online, 10-Oct-12, “Asta PowerProject, RevelPoint, Making Waves in Scheduling Software”).

There is a huge opportunity for other software competitors to take advantage, the database selection and engine design is so bad only a complete revamp, essentially new software with similar name can fix it and this means many man-years of coding. It is not about Portfolio capabilities, all other can do it and their product is not so complicated.

Hi Rafael

You sound surprised that setting a date format in P6 could be a complex process - I realised long ago that the sole purpose of Primavera + Oracle was to make a planner's life as difficult as possible. They have achieved that in v 8 but just wait until v 9 comes out.

Abdullah,

Check the working hours listed in the activity’s calendar to make sure that it matches the expected working hours.  If this is a resourced schedules, you should also check the calendar for the resource.  Good luck!
