MS Project 2007 vs 2010 -any major changes?

Gary,

The major change is in the way Project 2010 updates the Assignment Units field. There is an article on that:

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/project/archive/2010/04/29/assignment-units-in-project-2010.aspx

Other than that you can see the faq document I created:

http://www.msptips.com/FAQ_Compatibility.html

Sometimes going back and forth between the versions a lot may cause corruptions in mixed version environments as in your case. Always make sure you have latest service pack and cumulative update (hotfix collection) installed in both versions: http://technet.microsoft.com/tr-tr/office/ee748587.aspx

You can contact me anytime you want for further discussion. Email address is here at: http://www.planningplanet.com/groups/491393/gpc-turkey

Gary,

this official Microsoft page gives an overview of changes

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-help/what-s-new-in-microsoft-project-2010-HA010354195.aspx

even though, I must say, not a complete one.

The basic scheduling things, which you describe, did not change. However since MS Project 2010 introduces ribbon, it comes with adherent for ribbon steep learning curve. It takes some time to find where menus got moved to.

Hence if you intend to give a lesson in 2007, your students will have to get acquainted with 2010 afterwards. If you want to give training in 2010, you better get acquainted with it in advance yourself

Regards.
