hi
these is an option in the "schedule options" dialog box in primavera p6 that i can't figure out what does it do it is named"recalculate assignment costs after scheduling" i have heared it is used for resources with different price/units but i can't figure out what does it do exactly. can anyone give me a simple step by step example of how it works ? a numeric example please
thank you very much

thank you very much justin and vladimir i got it now

Omid,
It's just a scheduling option , If you have changed any of your resource price then recalculation is needed to determine the revised budget / actual cost , As uou have mentioned in ur example , If you want to change the price/unit as 20 then BC should be 1600 so if you use this option Recalculate assignment costs after scheduling it will show 1600 as ur revised BC , otherwise it won't will show it as ur previous value 800 BC.
Best Regards,
Justin James.
why is this option related to different price/units then?
thanks for the answer can you give me a numeric example?i am still a little confused cause i am new to primavera and as i have seen resource costs get calculated even before scheduling for example if a resource has a duration of 10 and a unit/time of 8 and a price/unit of 10 then we get 800 as "budgeted cost" of the resource and this happenes even without scheduling the project while we assign the resource
also as far as i know the durations are always fixed unless we are applying the actual durations (ii think with scheduling we get the "early finish" with the help of "original duration" and "early start" according to cpm logic)so i think if this option is related to durations then it gets irrelevant for not started activities
thanks
Hi Omid,
one answer is obvious:resource cost may depend on time and only after scheduling the time of activity execution becomes known.
For Spider Project users there are much more uncertainty: what resources will do the work, what will be activity duration, what will be resource cost at the time of activity execution. Besides, the cost may be discounted. All this becomes known only after the project is scheduled.
