Activity screen - Project summary showing by Chronilogical order

I am trying to Order my summarised projects within the Activity Screen, based on the early remaining starts of the activities within the project, in a crhronilogical order.

This may be something simple I have clearly missed, however having tried a mulitple of options using both the ordering on the project screen and the WBS, (which seems unfeasible due to the ammount of movement that will occur each week), i have come to no solution to my problem.

The idea is to have each project rolled up showing summary data, with the projects flowing to the right on the time line to show easily the expeted flow of project.

January           February        March

----------project folder 1 (summary)

            -------------- project 2 (summary)

                             --------------project 3 (summary)

If there is anything further required or a better explanation please let me know as this is causing some aggreavment in the department.

I am not a P6 user but wonder if you display the column for Early Start what is displayed for each summary bar. I would expect for finished activities the value to be cleared out and maybe the roll up value would be cleared out as well. If this is so then it is possible all projects having a single activity already finished would display a blank value for its summary bar and for purpose of sorting they have the same sorting value.

Thanks for the reply,

The issue isn't in getting the bars to summarise, it is in getting them to display in a chronilogical order on the screen....as the picture would suggest

At present it is showing Alphabetically as below

                                                January           February        March        April      May

project folder 1 (summary)           ----------

project folder 2 (summary)                                          --------------

project Folder 3 (summary)                                                            --------------

Project Folder 4 (summary)                       --------------

It would be as chronilogical as below

                                                January           February        March        April      May

project folder 1 (summary)           ----------

project folder 4 (summary)                        --------------

project Folder 2 (summary)                                         --------------

Project Folder 3 (summary)                                                            --------------

Keith,

Try using Bars... Options.... Collapsed Bars.... seclect Collapsed to Individual Bars to minimize Space.
