Hi to All P6 Users,
Anybody aware of the values displayed on their screen something like this as shown in the image?
The value shown on the Roll up Total Amount is different from the Total Cumulative Value at the end of the period.
Some resource are showing correct value and some are not.
[[wysiwyg_imageupload:1349:height=353,width=806]]
What are possible reasons why was it happening?
Regards,
Raymund
I understood that the figures on the right are wrong. So I just remember one setting: "Drive activities by default". Maybe it wasn't set. This is visible in the view "Assignments" - have a look for start and end dates of the assignments as well. If not set, this might lead to strange dates for the assignments.
Good luck!
Dieter
Dieter,
Actually, the Budgeted cost shown on the Activities Columns is the correct Value.
No Filters sets.
BTW I used a Resource curves such as as shown in the images to distribute cost through out the duration.

Regards,
Raymund,
Currently I have no access to P6 (holidays)
Budgeted cost is higher than the sums on the right side. It seems to me that there a filter is set. Currently I have no other idea.

Dieter
Dieter,
Rate Source = Rate from individual resources. Every Activity has different Resource.
There are no Expenses. Only Material Type Resource.
Example,
Resource Name = Concrete Works Budget
Price / Unit = SAR 120,000,000.00 (Cost for entire Concrete works of Project)
When assgned to WBS Summary Activity under Concrete Works, Budget Unit = 1
Resources are specific for each project, they are assigned once only.

Raymund
David's question for the rate source = resource for all assignments? I had this already in the past.
Is there a resource with a different currency?
Are there expenses?
Are resources assigned to mor projects? e.g. test-projects? This would be my no. one criterion.
Regards
Dieter
David,
Thanks for your reply.
There might some P6 users who experienced it and was able to resolve.
Hoping for some other P6 users to share their solution.
Regards,
I only know of two circumstances where The Unit Price x Budget Units = Budget Cost is not true:
Rounding error caused by currancy conversion
The "Rate Source" (whicc can be set for any Resource Assignment) is set to "Override"
David,
All are in the Base Currency.
Raymund,
Are all of your costs in the base currency?
David,
I see the problems coming from the Resource Budget Cost.
The Unit Price x Budget Units = Budget Cost (This result of Budget Cost sometimes will give a wrong answer).
Regards,
RAymund,
It seems I do not know how to imbed graphics in this system - there should have beed a picture.
The filter is still a good place to start!
Raymund,
The budgeted total cost in the top left of your screenshot comes from the Activities table, and the figures in the lower layout come from the Resource Assignment table. P6 allows you to have different values in these.
For example, the wrong answer here:
and you remove the referential integrity between the tables. Great.
This is a good first place to check because your activities total is bigger than your resource assignment total, so filter the activity screen where( budget cost >0 and Resource names = ) (i.e. resource names empty
Dieter,
The layout is Resource Usage Spreadsheet.
On the Top Left is Activity List (Rolled up to Toal Budget Cost)
On Top Right is Gant Bar showing end of the Summary Bar
On Bottom Left is Resource List with corresponding Budget Value
On Bottom Right is Cumulative Budget Interval Distribution.
The resource type is Material with assigned Resource Curve.
Regards,
Hi Raymund
Right side: Open projects only; left site?
Filter on the right side - e.g. labour,...; left side incl. expenses
Check the settings right and left. The differences are too big to be caused by rounding effects.
Good luck!
Dieter
