Morning all!,
I need to clean up a database for my new company (poorly managed for a few years) and I am going through a process for rationalising the calendars and resources to start with.
Calendars has been an easy part but im struggling with the resources...
Basically we now have all manner of variations for the same resource eg;
Welder, welder1, welder-1, welder01 - they are all identical in every way except name.
Ideally id like to global change all those from above to just be "Welder" however in activities with actuals this isnt possible.
I have looked at various ways of doing it from exporting removing actuals then re-importing as new activites etc etc but all seems very time consuming and error prone for the number of projects we have.
Any ideas? they would be much appreciated.

On the resource pane.... select the unnecessary resources you wish to delete then right clik on it then select delete and once you are ask to replace the resources (resources assigned to any projects) with another resource then you can select the resource which one you want to retain.

We have multiple "in progress projects" with hundreds of activities.
Any activity (whether in progress, complete or not started) that has any variation of welder assigned to it i want to change to a generic Welder resource.
The plan being to remove all the unneccesary resources from the dictionary and ensure everyone is useing a core set of resources.
