Reference for previous forecasts???

Hello All,

Would really appreciate a prompt response for this one...

While it is expected of a Project Manager to change his At completion units to forecast and then baseline it keeping the budgeted units as they were, my understanding is that the baselined units i.e., BL1 (or 2,3, etc) Labour units and BL1 non-labour units will always be the same for however many baselines he creates. That is because he doesn't change the budgeted units and only the At completion units (or remaining units as per preferences).

In such a situation, if a PM wants to see what he forecasted the previous month for a resource of an activity and if he wants to compare it with the actual units, how can he do that? Because for a month in past, the At completion units will automatically change to the actual units and remaining units become 0, the at completion units (or any other units) are never stored in the system. How can he analyse how much has he over/under spent in the previous months?

Thanks!

thanks for your reply.

i was just wondering.. baselines don't capture At completion units. So while it's imp to baseline schedules every month, they only have the budgeted units. So, I still won't know what I forecasted for the present month last time I baselined.

Also, can you please elaborate on how to store period performance in P6?

back-up of all the baselines would be necessary;

try store period performance
