Hi, Miklos! Welcome back! (I'm starting a new thread rather than hijacking the one on Critical Path Float.)
Several points:
- I would love (LOVE!) to attend your conference in Budapest. (If I presented, I even know what my subject matter would be: Time Times Seven! The Multiplier Effect of Critical Path Drag Cost on Enabler Projects.) Unfortunately, (1) while I desperately want to see Budapest before I die, I cannot currently meet the expense for such a trip, and (2) as it turns out, I have a paying gig that week (a seminar for BAE Systems). I am hoping to be presenting at the PMI Symposium in Vancouver in October, though. And is there any chance of your ever being in Massachusetts? (You'd have a place to stay.)
- One of my articles on Critical Path Drag that was published in the Jan/Feb Issue of Defense AT&L Magazine has actually been getting a good deal of attention. (It's about to be re-printed in a book, and has led to a request that I write a chapter in an upcoming book on Emergency Response projects.) A .PDF of the article (The Drag Efficient: The Missing Quantification of Time on the Critical Path) can be found here.
- Our conversation about Critical Path Drag last July came to an abrupt end. I had posted a reply, with what seemed to me an important question for you, in attempting to resolve our issues re Drag. It would be great if we could finish that conversation. It is here (Steve's Comment #17) . If you'd like, I'd love to continue that discussion.
Fraternally in project management,

Steve, old chap,
Many thanks for your post, although I really do not deserve a completely new thread :)
The reason for vanishing in the space was, that sometime my mood can change hidden. Since the death of my wife (at the end of 2009) the memories, and the fact that I have to cope with five kids can drive to me into a kind of depression, and in this case i simply have to quit without warnings.
Now I'm back and hope that in this time i will be ok for a longer period.
It's a pitty that you cannot come to Budapest, maybe next time. You'd also have a place to stay. We live in a more than 400 sqm house on the shoreline of the Danube.
Visiting you is relatively easy. A conference where you live, or an invitation for a visiting professorship for a shorter period will do. Other option can be to meet during a conference. I travel quite a lot so at this moment it is not so difficult to me to go if my paper is accepted.
Congratulation for your paper, but I'm still insisiting that it is not finished, and a small note just to pick up the line.
Make the follwing small changes in your sample network.
Activity A let the predecessor of B (as it was) but let the preceding relation be FF10, and let the successor of B is C by SS10.
The duraion, start and finish times, the floats of the network are the same. My question is: What are the drag in this case for B? Then change the duration of B according to the drag and see the results!
Take care
Miklós
