Hi PP members,
I have just entered a project into P6 which is about half way completed. I need to create the baseline for the projects mid way position. To do this i created a new baseline based on the current project, but when I display the baseline bars some of them line up fine (should be equal to current bar) and some of them are miles off?
Why would it do this as I need the baseline to be equal to the current bars?

Ok I will have to read up on that, I see a lot of forums refer to a paper "Much ado about dates" relating to how dates affect various elements of P6 and hopefully this has info. Found the link below if it helps you in any way http://www.ronwinterconsulting.com/Understanding_P6_Dates.pdf

It is worth remembering the Planned Dates also determine where your Planned Value (BCWS) will profile to, which I have learnt to my cost over the 9 years working with Primavera!

Thank you James that fixed it!
I displayed the planned columns, exported to excel and copied the start/finish dates over the planned and imported it back into P6. Now the baseline bars match the current bars just like I needed.

I am assuming you are baseling where you are now and so the baseline is to equal current?
Have you reviewed your 'planned dates' as if they do not match the start/finish dates at the time you baseline you will get a differance.
Add Planned Start and Planned Finish columns to your gantt chart and compare.

I understand that you selected The Primary Baseline Under the Name Column but the corresponding Bar on the timescale column was shown as Plan Bar.[[wysiwyg_imageupload:888:]]
Just checked and the bars selected are Primary Baseline and Baseline Milestones.

On the Bars Window, make sure the timescale selected is Project Baseline Bar or Primary Baseline Bar instead of Plan Bar.
