My predecessor for the activity "Prepare RFQ (Request for Quotation) of Equipment xxx" in mechanical engineering is the activity "Prepare Data Sheet of Equipment xxx" in process engineering. Basically all my RFQ preparation activities for mechanical equipments have the same type of predecessor (linked to the corresponding Data Sheet in process).
I'd like to know the same for the electrical equipment. Which would be the best predecessor for the activity in which the electrical engineers start preparing the information to go for RFQ of those equipments? Preliminary Electrical Equipment List? Preliminary Electrical Line List?
Also, what would be the best predecessor for materials in this case? (cables, cable trays, etc.) The MTO (Materials Take-Off) deliverable?
Hi John
It depends on the equipment / activity it self, Ex:
Piping: Need pipe take of lists
Cables - Need cable spec + Cable list + (which require consumer list on its turn).
Cable trays - Need cable tray spec + cable tray Qtys (which need cable tray layout drg on its turn)
Transformer - Need Data sheet (Which need consumer list, etc)
In general for electrical the preliminary equipment list is a good start to define what is required for each type of equipment.
In all of the above (as well as for mechanical) the Comercial guys also need to prepare the comercial attachements - which go along with the enquire. Also remember to include with the datasheets the relevant technical engineering information concerning interface point definition - otherwise you might end-up having a square duct to connect with a round blower outlet.
