Issues with Earned Value Labour UNits

I have a problem were an activity is 100% complete the budgetted labour units are 8 the remaining is 0 the actual is 8 yet the earned value labour units is 0.   If I understand this correctly the earned is simply the actual or more if the activity went longer than budgetted.

The earned value doesnt seem to populate.   Is there a switch I don't have turned on under users or admin or even the project.

UNsure of what is happening.

As you pointed out earlier the baseline needs to be set properly something that on the project in question it was not.   Anyway thanks for your help and if I have any problems this is the best place for Feedback as there is always someone who has come across the problem or has the solution

Again Thanks

Ron,

It's also worth checking you are happy with the Earned Value settings under Admin > Admin Preferences > Earned Value.

It doesn't sound like this is the problem, but it might be if you have some funny settings turned on like use WBS milestones to calculate % complete.

Ron,

Go to Project > Assign Baselines and set the Project Baseline to "Current Project". -Does the offending activity have an earned value now?

If yes, it means the activity in the baseline project you were using doesn't have any labour units assigned -probably the resource was added after the baseline was taken.

If no, I'm not sure what's going on -is it just the one activity that isn't behaving, or is this the same across the entire project?

Ron,

Do you have a baseline set? Does the activity have budgeted labour units in the baseline schedule?

Eanred value is %complete x baseline budgeted units
