Database lost, import not working urgent help needed

Hi Guys

Im knee deep in it with bosses breathing down my neck so im really hoping somebody can help me

here the history

1) ive just taken over from a planner on a very big project that is 70% complete

2) I took over his notebook with primavera on and all the sites programs etc

3) The Laptop is on a network so the IT guys at headoffice changed the computername and then

primavera freaked out, could not open the database

4) They tried to fix it and somehow managed to delete the entire backup of the database

5) The notebook is still at headoffice as im working 400km away

6) I installed primavera on my personal pc to try and carry on with work

you guy can see what predicement i am in :( all i have is one baseline.xer file and a the last update.xer that i found on the previous planners sent items in outlook

I imported the update but for some or other reason most of the figures went haywire, the total float shows allot more than it was and the performance complete went up couple % by its own, the schedule % complete looks correct

I then assigned a baseline prog, the base i found on his mail and nothing much changed.

thank you in advance

hi

I interface like your problem before .

if the laptop still available with you,

you need to upate configuration pmdb database in the laptop .

to update database ....first thing check ur laptop (new name ).

after that when you open primavera & before you log in press on Database  after that configure (Just Replace the new name with new Computer name ).

Hi Ryan,

You said Base line & last updated program XER's available with you.

if it's right then fix the Admin preferences and hope u definetly have PDF's to compare the last months progress, check it out.

we faced similar problems when we tried to update from different computers once we adjust the Admin Preferences things will be ok except one r two, may be because of link modifications by the previous updater to match the site condition etc.

all the best,

Regards,

Hy Ryan

maybe your colleagues don't find the right way to synchronize. You'll just run those two sql statements:

exec sp_change_users_login 'Update_One', 'Pubuser', 'pubuser'

exec sp_change_users_login 'Update_One', 'Privuser', 'privuser'

Then you should be able to work with the original projects again.

Good luck!

Hy Ryan,

you've got real IT-experts. I assume you have an installation with MS SQL. Part of the installation is the computer's name. After you moved a database or a complete server to a different computer - or changed the computer's name you MUST! synchronize the users again. Primavera needs privuser and pubuser. After the synchronization the database should work again. Your IT specialists should know how to synchronize.

Problem is within the SQL Server.

Try to learn how to do your own back-ups - I won't rely on those people.

Good luck!

Dieter
