Resource Loaded Schedule

Hi friends,

I'm working in an Oil & Gas EPC Project in the Middle East.

My subcontractor submitted me a 'resource loaded schedule'. They have assigned roles to activities insead of resources & allocated planned units to them. For example: welder =4x8hrs =32hrs. total =21 days x 32hrs=672 hrs.

In this case, how to assess over allocation of resources & whether sufficient resources are assigned or not? The Subcontractor is reluctant to do actual resource loading saying the way they did is effective but failed to explain how.

Please give me some guidance on resource loading & how to check effectiveness of the same.

A quick response will be sincerely appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

PS Babu, PMP.

Thank you very much Mr.Shahul.

Will try this option.

Meanwhile, would like to know whether the way my Subcontractor's 'resource loading' is absolutely correct or not?

Thanking you once again.

Hi Babu PS

Give a try by using below steps, it is rough way of assessing the resource required for a project

  1. In the given Schedule create  a new resource  named "Res Check""  (Under Labor Category)
  2. Let the budgeted unit of Res Check be 1 ( ie. 1 man working 8 Hours a day)
  3. Assign the resource to all project activities
  4. Choose histogram icon option generally located near activity details icon (In P6)
  5. Histogram shows you the ""peak value""  where more resource found to be associated in line with logically linked schedule,Peak value and the corresponding month is the general reference to assess your sub contractor's schedule.
  6. Subcontractor's resource peak  should be higher than ""peak value""

Cheer's
