Hello everybody,

Probably a this has been addressed in other threads too but I am a newbie & would really appreciate a detailed answer if possible.

How do u import a WBS from Excel to P6 ?

I know of the excel file ''PATTLNK_..........xls' Tried using it, but get an error message. So i guess ODBC is not set right. How do I do it ?

I have also heard of the 'parser' file but dont know how to use it. Would appriciate details if it works for importing WBS into P6.

Thanks in advance

Sue

There is an article on my web site titled "AStep-By-Step Guide Using Software Development Kit(SDK) for Primavera Version 6.X schedule preparation by: Jeoffrey B. Reyes Sr.Planning Engineer Building Works / Road & Infrastructure Jubail Industrial City, K.S." at http://www.primavera.com.au/technical_papers.html . This is a great document and four of the Oracle Primavera spread sheets may be downloaded from http://www.primavera.com.au/third_party_software_downloads.html .

First thing to check is that you actually have the SDK element of P6 installed and that you have the user privileges to use it, if you do then you need to set up an ODBC connection through the ODBC Administrator (Control Panel).  When you click add you should find the Primavera SDK in the list and set up using your database 'pubuser' username and password.  Then away you go!  Open the xls tool, login using your P6 login details, select a project from the dropdown, if there's already a WBS click 'Get WBS', otherwise type/paste in a new WBS and click 'Set WBS' wait until the process completes refresh your P6 screen and there you go!

Hope that helps!
