Kumar,
To create a new P6 database, look to the write-up in the P6 Administrator’s Guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E16281_01/primavera_p6_administrator_s_guide_1.htm in the chapter titled, "Automatic Database Installation”. Browse the section titled, “Automatically Installing a SQL Server Database and Loading Application Data”. Good luck!
@ Ronald Sir,
i would like to know how to create seperate database for the real projects that you mentioned before.
I am using the SQL Express database.
Dear Ronald,
Thanks a lot, i will be better of deleating it then. No point in keeping them if they are useless.
What you call the “Default Projects” are usually called the “Sample Projects”. It would have been best for you to not have loaded them in the first place. Included with the Sample Projects are hundreds of useless and confusing activity codes, resources, cost accounts, and even false EPS names that will slow down your computer and make it much easier for you to accidently make a mistake while working with your real schedules.
If you insist on having these Sample Projects loaded, then I suggest that if you are using an SQL Express database server that you create a separate database for the ‘real’ projects and use that. If you are using Oracle Express, then you are out of luck as Oracle Express does not support multiple databases. In that case, your only option is to un-install Oracle Express and re-install and this time, say “No” when asked if you want to load the Sample Project database. Good luck!
