Go to Google Groups. Find the group microsoft.public.project. Search the group for my name or for key words such as "progress" etc and there find many posts and discussions concerning this topic and with explicit instructions.
after that you can try, tools, tracking, update project, & re-schedule. From there you would be able to know how further delay of your project will be with the current project progress % that you have at the moment.

if I understand you well, you want to update your project and see which activities are delayed and which would finish later than planned
first of all, you should save a baseline for the project and display it: Tools, Tracking, Save baseline; then View, Tracking Gantt and View, Tables, Tracking
Tracking Gantt will display the baseline bars together with the current bars, and Tracking Table will display all the necessary fields for you to enter the actual dates and duration of the tasks
if some tasks must be completed before a specific date, enter a Not Later Than constraint on these tasks before you update the project for the first time
