1.- What information do you look first?
2.- What deliverables are produced by process engineering?
3.- Whatr information does piping receive from process engineering?
4.- What are the main activities in piping?
5.- What information does electrical and instrumentation need from piping?
Dear Santos,
To develop engineering plan for an oil/Gas Project, you will need to:
1.1 Interact with the Process Engineers to carry out simulation studies using appropriate engineering software to help determine the volume of oil/gas/condensate expected to size up the vessels/pipes/manifolds and some process equipment to be employed. PPpp
Process engineering deliverable to be captured in your plan includes PFDs, Mass balances, & process equipment & data sheet.
1.2 Interact with Piping/Mechanical Engineers to determine what facilities in form of piping, pumps and equipment that will need to be designed to manifold, contain and convey the oil/gas from source to destination.... Main activities of piping here .
Main activities of Mechanical piping here include pipe & equipment specs, fittings, bolts, gaskets, vessel, etc sizing’s. All these will be detailed out in isometric drawings.
1.3 Determine the nature and source of the oil/gas project - Is it a green field or brown field project? I
If green field, determine whether environment is onshore or offshore and have civil/structural engineers design structures to ensure that your project facilities are adequately supported.
1.4 Interact with Electrical and Instrument Design Engineer who will closely take a look at (1) PFDs as produced by the Process Engineer (2) Piping isometrics as produced by Mechanical Piping & civil/ Architectural Drawings as produced by the by the Civil/Structural Engineer and then contribute his professional role in the production of P&ID and also the electrical one line drawings & others for various equipment and facilities to be installed on site.
(1.4) Interact also with every team member involved with HAZID & HAZOP studies to determine the nature of the oil/condensate being expected. Find whether it requires pigging/ coalesce to remove impurities & also the size of separators required.
If you require more information, Endeavour to keep in touch and be properly guided (email: [email protected]).
Regards
Ujam
1 -The contract & scope document. If your engineers have developed them, also basis of design, and DDR (design deliverables register)
2 -PFDs, P&IDs, mass balances, valve & pump sizings, ESD cause & effect, HAZOP
3 -most of the above
4 -Specs for pipe, valves, coating, PIGs, MTOs, construction / test specs, piping supports
5 - Just the specs, really
Hello Raul
i have not experiance in Oil & gas sector. But generally i can say that
2. Process Engineering deliverable:- Design Basis, PFD, Mass Balance, Hazop Syudy, P&ID, Process Data Sheet, Process instrument data sheet, process control phylosphy, Instrument list,
3. P&ID, Line list & line schedule, Tie-in list, equipment & instrument list
4. Piping layout, Isometric Drawing, Stress analysis, Piping & Fittings specification, Piping MTO,
