Mass Resource Import

Hi

I am trying to upload into P6 a library of resources (1500 resources) from some estimating software (Candy) - this is info that is not held on any planning software.

I have created an resource export file in P6 and used this file to create a P6 import file with the new resources.  I have tried importing this several ways but nothing works.

Does anyone know how I can mass import resources using a spreadsheet so that I do not need to manually add 1500 resources!

Thanks

Claire

Hi Andy,

I have activity6x.xls and dictionary6x.xls. Do you posses a file for the wbs export? I appreciate much if you could share the file as I need  it so badly.

Thanks in advance.

Raymund

You should be able to import resources through Excel import, if you have a template exported from P6 with the resources data type and the fields you require, you should be able to paste your data on to it and then import the new resources.

NOTE:  Don't make any changes to the tab names, column headings or on the USERDATA tab just change the data below on the RSRC tab.  Also, I make sure the resource ID's don't already exist in P6.

I find a better way to do it is by using the SDK and the Dictionary6x.xls or Dictionary6v7.xls (depending on P6 version) to import that way.  The SDK is a bit more reliable!

Hope that helps.

Andy
