Problems in P6 schduling

Dear All,

I am facing a problem while scheduling in Primavera v6.7 as following:

  1. The start date of a successor activity is same as the end date of the predecessor activity.
  2. The start time of some activities is 7:00am which is the start of the day as set in the assigned project calendar, however some activities are starting at 11:00 am or 2:00pm.
  3. Total Float is coming not in whole numbers but in decimal figures.

Please note that I have set the Project Start time and the Calendar start time and the Schedule time same i.e., 7:00am but the problem still persists.

Can somebody help/advise me on the subject?

Thanks & Regards,

Faheem, PMP.

Hi Faheem,

I do not use version 7 . But why not try replacing the activity callendars with a corresponding standard calendar, it appears you are not planning in hours so. use standard day calendars that match your plan.

you could send me some sample activities export as version 5 or contractor and a print of your screen. at [email protected]. I will try my hands on it TIME permitting.

Hi Bakola,

Thanks for your kind reply. But the problem still remains same. Keeping the Units Format Unit Of Time = Day,   Decimals=0 and the Duration Format Unit Of Time = Day,   Decimals=0 making sure that  Subunit filed is clear, only hides the decimal places and does not affect remove the above stated problems.

Further, the WBS subtotals show the figure in decimal places like 48.60, however all the activities in the same work package have the durations in whole numbers.

Do you have any other idea on this?

Regards,

Faheem

Hi Faheem.

Try this and them re-schedule:

From Edit Menu

 @  Edit/User Preference/ Time Unit/....

Check your Units Format Unit Of Time = Day,   Decimals=0  Make sure Subunit filed is clear

Check your Duration Format Unit Of Time = Day,   Decimals=0 Make sure Subunit filed is clear
