Hi Duke,

Try to check the Duration Type it must be "Fixed Duration & Units".

Regards.

Thanks for the reply sir but, the project has not started yet and all the activities concerned are set to task dependent. our subcon gave us a schedule with all the resources dump in the wbs summary. leaving the activities under the wbs summary to be blank of resources and therefore the budgeted labor unit appears only in the wbs summary. I want to split the budgeted labor units among the activities under the wbs summary by weight percentage but each time I entered a labor unit in every task dependent activity, the finish dates move forward.

another is that i observe that how come that the early start and finish date, let say august to december, yet there are labor units in the actvity usage profile or spreadsheets even beyond december. May I know what could be the problem

Hi Duke,

is this project in progress or not yet started. Note that the resource has a fixed unit/time he can work, eg (hrs/day). this makes the unit per time rigid and if the activity is set to be resource dependent in the activity details tab, definitely any increase in units will increase or shift the duration of the activity and project this means the finish date is automatically affected.

I think this could help..
