Hello everybody ..I am maaking a Capital Expenditure Schedule linked with the Construction Schedule in Primavera P6..and I am facing the following problems:
1. Salary is getting distributed linearly over the entire activity..now suppose I hire 1 Manager in first month and after two months another 1 but if i load the cost together the entire cost will be distributed evenly.
2. I will buy equipments and payment will be after 180 days how do i impose this delay in expenses...
3. what is the function of Roles and how can i use it in scheduling.
Regards
Hi! Amit thanx for the reply and it is actually beneficial......
1). ROLE which means instead of assigning 1 Grader, 1 Excavator, 1 Roller I can simply assign Earthwork..right..
Thanx
Hi Vishnu,
You can try the following for your questions :
1) While allocating resources like manager in the 2nd month of the activity, you can assign a manual curve of a do bucket planning for the resource. You can manually assign the date in the bugeted units spreadsheet for that resource. Hence the distribution would be from that date.
2) As far as payments for equipment goes, you can make a wbs or code "Payment Milestones" and add all the payment milestones activities in that wbs. Then assign the payment milestone for say equipment A with a 180 days delay. You can assign costs to these milestones as expenses. Hence, you can track the delivery and payment for the equipment seperately.
3) Roles are primarily used during initial planning. Say for example you have 20 civil engineers as resources and all of them have been assigned Role = Civil Engineer. While doing initial planning you don't know which civil engg would be assigned where, hence you assign roles to these activities and later replace them with individual engg during detailed planning.
The second used of roles is to divide your resources according to "Skill Sets", lets say out of that 20 enginners, 10 are experts, 5 intermediate, and 5 are newbies. And eacch of you construction activities require civil engg of varying Skill sets, the roles come into picture here too as your resources can be divided according to skill sets and help you plan.
Hope it helps
