Import WBS Code in P6

Hi everybody.. Can any one of you tell me that is it possible to import WBS Code from Excel to P6. Since we are working in WBS in 2 different system for the same programme, We want to import the data from one system to another.. We have tried by exporting the WBS code, WBS name and WBS path and import that to another system.. Afetr the completion of importing data there is no change in the WBS for activities..

in the project that you want to copy the wbs strucutre to make sure that there is NO wbs structure other than the very top level which is automatically Project ID

open both projects

got to the wbs directory

summarize and roll up both projects

go to the project where the wbs exists

right click and select copy

highlight the other project and select paste

you will be given several options choose wbs only

BTW

when you tried to import before did change the first few characters of the wbs to match the other Project ID name ?

If you know how to use SDK you can do it also by simply putting your WBS structure. All you need to do is to prepare your PARENT WBS ID, WBS CODE and WBS NAME. Then just set your WBS from your Macro then it will go through your P6 program.

I am doing this by this way...

If u r trying to copy another plan WBS structure to ur plan, I suggest open both plan altogether and copy the desired WBS under ur plan  node (remember...if u want to copy the structure only, please uncheck the activity while copying otherwise activities will also be copied to ur project) , close all file and open ur plan only.  Now u can shift ur activities under copied WBS simply by Cntr'X' & Cntrl 'V'

or if u trying to change the WBS by Export and import first export your schedule in excel selecting Activity ID and WBS Code under Export Type 'Activities' , then open and change the individual activites WBS code in excel and import to P6 again...but pl remember that in this case u shud hv the desired WBS structure defined in ur project ...if u hv not done this...u can do it by first method

Thanks,
