Hi All,

If there are any empty lines in your MSProject schedule P6 can not compute. So what I did was open the schedule in MSP and made sure there weren't any empty lines then saved the schedule as an .xml file and then the import was sucessful.

Hope this helps.

Sorry Alexandre, but that is simply not true.

I have both 2007 and 2003 installed and my imports work perfectly fine.

The trick is to open an mpp file with 2003 first (so it is the default handler for these files) and then do your import into Primavera.

I cannot comment on having 2010 installed, although I cannot see that this wil create and issue.

Hi Sandy,

After some more research I found out that it is a Java issue. I am just a user on the network so i forwarded what i found to my IT guy and he is working on it. if he figures it out I will find out what he did and relay that info to you. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.

I have set up a template in P6 so I just copy that and add or delete activities as necessary. It's easier than building the schedule from scratch.

I tried my own suggestion, save as .xml file and it failed!  I got the same error message as Tammy.  I have been communicationg with Oracle on this for some weeks now and they seem to think it is relared to my Windows/Java set up.  I have made some changes as they suggested and got past the error event code.  But still it fails!  I get a message 'Process completed with errors' but no project created.  Any ideas?  Still working with Oracle but taking some time!  (I got round my original requirement by just coping in the activitivities and putting in the logic, thankfully a small and simple network!)

P6 version 7 can export to MSProject XML 2007 so you should be able to import an XML created in MSP2007 in to P6v7.  Unfortunately I dont have MSP2007 to try this out, I can import XML from MSP 2010 with no issue.

MS Project 2003 (MPP) converts to P6 version 7 without any issues. in fact, its pretty seamless.

Have yopu tried saving in MS Project as .xml file?  Should then be available for import?

It appears that the only way to do it is remove MSP 2007 / 10 from the machine and then install 2003

Hello John,

it is just not possible to import / export between Primavera PM6 and MS Project when you have MS Project 2007 / 2010 installed on the PC; you cannot import from MS Project 2003 either
