I recommend you the time & motion study to know the productivity for equipments/machinery.
For Example
For excavator
First Step: Record the time it takes it from digging the earth and putting it into dumper & calculate the number of rounds in an hour..
Second Step: Calculate the volume of bucket of excavator
Third Step: now clearly you can calculate the the Volume of earth it has excavated in an hour by multiplying the volume of bucket to no. of rounds it takes in an hour.
THis is productivity for Ecavator: Volume of earth per hour
