Hi,
I would like to introduce a new developemnt in location-based planning. This is also called as time-location plan (time-distance chart). The tool was developed for earthwork activities in linear construction projects such as roads, railways and pipeline in order to generate automatically location-based planning (time location chart).
Existing linear planning tools like TILOS mainly focuses on high level for earthwork activities but lacks to provide the information of working locations on weekly or daily basis. Therefore, address this issue, a prototype tool was developed to generate weekly or daily time-location plan automatically that represents the correct working locations throughout the earthwork construction in linear project. The plan is also linked with variable productivity data and can be regenerated by user defined productivity values and other varibales like site access constarints. Please provide your feedback about practical applications of the tools if anyone with time location planning.
Thanks
Raj
In time-location chart Spider Project shows the result of schedule calculation on user selected metric.
If the metric is linear and productivity on some type of work is different at different points you will see not the line but some curve (depends on productivity evolution) that shows at what place the work will be done at what moment.
Metric that is selected may look as Stage 1, Stage 2, etc. It is not necessary to apply Time-Location View only to linear projects.
In Spider Project time-location chart is one of reports, not scheduling tool. The schedule is created traditional way though with much larger capabilities.
Best Regards,
Vladimir
Hi Vadimir,
Spider Project Linear Diagrams display only linear activity time- location chart. how can develop the time location chart for earthwork activities since quantities are varies along the locations? All existing time location tools display just a line to represent the earthwork activities. is this true in case of linear diagram?
Thanks
Raj
Hi Raj, in Spider Project Linear Diagrams (Time-Location) can be created for any period. But it is traditional PM software and Time-Location Chart is one of many reports the software can produce.
