I did not understand your concern fully but what I think might have happened was "Presence of Mandatory Constraints". As they often changes Early/Late start/Finish dates, sometimes critical path too. So check for any such constraints being in the middle of the programme.

Hi abhishek

I did not understand what you meant "two trackings of the schedule". Do you mean Baseline vs Project or any other. If it is baseline vs Project; they will have different floats, as the project contains actuals. Or if you talking about some other concept, please let me know.

By the way, I have mentioned in my last post reg. CPM method to get the complete meaning of that post. No offence.

Hi Abhishek,

You are using claim digger for which purpose. I think claim digger compares two schedules.

Hi Naveen, it is clear that P6 uses Critical path Method. But while I am using the Claim digger tool to compare two trackings of the schedule it is generating two floats for same activity. What could be the reason for the same?? and if there is a problem in the logic of the baseline schedule itself then why I did not get highlight while scheduling the baseline??

Primavera uses Critical Path Method (CPM) to calculate Early start/Finish and Late Start/Finish dates through a series of Forward pass and Backward passes; in this process it also generates float. You may give a Must finish date if your project is required to finish by that date(means Fixed duration). If not it takes the longest path as the duration of the project.

How does the Primavera make calculationa for the float?? What logic does it follow?? Do i need to provide a must finish date at the program ?

Physical type is used in normal practice,

In this type you insert %age, remaining duration, actual units consumed for each resource manually.

But if U choose Duration type for the activity you just have to start an activity and enter its percentage

remaining parameters will be updated according to the percentage....

Thanks
