Hi Jaymar.

As mentioned earlier, you need to assign a baseline, go to projects and then click assign baseline, when you have done this, you need to set-up your bars and the columns you want to show, obviously, you want to show "planned % complete" and "actual % complete" and maybe a "variance" column as well.  In P6 you can have up to 3 baselines, click primary baseline and make sure that the row is in 2 position. When adding column, go to % complete and here you have many options, I think the planned % complete is called "schedule % complete" you need to try and find the right options.

Best regards,

Daniel

dear daniel,

i am currently tracking a resource loaded schedule which i made. i could acquire the cumulative % of the schedule based on labor units. however, i would also like to know the % complete target for that day.

Example: my plan in civil works based from the baseline is 30% as of today's date and my actual % based from primavera calculation is lets say 15%

I wanted to show the baseline "planned % cumulative" as of the data date in order to show whether we are behind or ahead of such activity.

By the way, i just want to clarify my queries, i wanted to show the information not just in a form of curve nor gantt chart. i want the numerical data to be shown in the columns. i have loaded a baseline as well. is there any column field to show the cumulative plan based from the baseline? I have tried creating a global change formula and user defined fields but i could not possibly get the correct "within range" data. so when i run the global change with dates filtered, it will generate numerical information including the last unit of the activity's duration. i could not truncate the information up to my current data date.

Regards!

Arun,

You can use "Duration % Complete" , (which is time base) to update your programme, but will not generate the right % complete if you do not have a conisistent level of breakdown, for example, Foundation and structural works are detailed to as far as formworks, rebar, concreting by area and then your MEP works only indicate 1st fix, 2nd fix and final fix by level, then obviously, you do not have the same level of detail and therefore will not calculate the correct overall % complete. It is always a good practice to resource load either using cost or manhours/mandays.

Hi Jaymar,

Alternatively, you can generate your summary progress curve on screen and you can generate both plan and actual provided you assigned a baseline first.

Click "Activity Usage Profile" icon, and then on the profile screen, right click "Activity Usage Profile Options"

Here you can choose "Cost" or "Unit" click 'Cost' if your programme is cost loaded or 'Unit' if labour based (manhours or Mandays)

Under Show Bars/Curves, you can click baseline "By Date & Cumuluative" meaning your time period incrementals and cumulative, here you also have "Actual" click both by date and cumulative, this will show your planned % Complete and Actual % Complete in graphics format, however your can generate this through reports.

Best regards,

Daniel

Hi Jaymar,

First of all you need to resource load your programme, you can generate a cumulative % complete if your progamme is resource loaded, either based on Cost or Manhours or Mandays or any other UOM.

The cumulative % complete is automatically generated when you schedule the programme and it is shown on the summary bar (the first summary bar in your Ghant Chart), just insert % Complete.

The planned % Complete must be generated from your baseline and your actual % complete from your current programme

You can either generate them individualy or if you set up your target (baseline) you can generate them both.

Best regards,

Daniel
