yes you can!
in P6, go to Timescale, set it up to display ordinal dates in days: it will display 1, 2, 3, ... from the selected date (project start, data date, ...)
the same in P3, but you will have hard time to display the number on a daily basis; on my screen, it only displays the number for every monday

I am afraid you cant; there is no such a date format in MS Project whatever the version is
a workaround is to use the timescale: set up the lower level to "Days", then select the label to "D1, D2 (from start)" or "1, 2 (from start)".

Thanks but in my version of msp in tools --> options --> view there are NO day 1, day 2 format, but only 1/w09, 1/w09/01..
I use MSP2003, what’s your version?
