Completion date still a mystery

Haresh,

When importing XER you have 3 levels of options that P6 will allow you to update.

1) Activity level allows planners to update:

->     Activity data

->     Activity Relationship

->     Activity Resource Assignment

2) Global level allows planners to update:

->     Resource Code

->     Resource Code Values

->     Roles

->     Resources

->     Shift Calendar names

3) Project Level

->     Activity Codes Values

->     Activity Codes

->     Calendars

->     Work Products & Documents

->     Relationship to external Projects

->     Etc…

->     Etc…



In regards to your issue I suspect that you are using global calendar assigned to a project. This means that you cannot update existing global calendar whether is used of other Projects or not because there is no option of updating Global Calendar to prevent overwriting if this is used by other Projects or set as a Global default calendar. There are two ways to solve your problem:

     One is to define and use Project calendar instead of using Global calendar so you will be able to update in case there is a change on the calendar settings.

     Another way is to define and create a different name or unique name of Global calendar to make sure that it does not exist on the other system.

Dear Rodel,



Yes , you are correct.......Delay in my program is due to the change of calendar at the time of importing............



Now i have a minor problem:



a) When i am importing "i am changing the calendar option from Keep Existing to Update Existing".....But this option is not working.....



My calendar are not getting updated and thus it is generating negative floats.....even if i select "Update Exising option"....Kindly clarify the reason why my calendar is not updated , even if i select this option????????
