Dear Mike,
Your doing excersises. We only get better with practice.
It seems that the Construction guys are hiring planners and they assume that the planners will do the Schedules without any communication with them.
I was going to start a few pages to reply, then I remembered that we did a discussion for a hotel and we were talking about the risers.
Our friend should do a search on PP for what he wants and he will find plent of information.
With kind regards,
Samer
PS I am eager to find out what his reply is going to be.
Hi Samer
I often forget what I have done before - I am getting to the age where I consider the hereafter.
I climb to the top of the stairs and then think "What am I here after"
And another thing when I bend down to pick something up I ask myself "Is there anything else I can do while I am down here?"
Best regards
Mike Testro.

Very sound advice from Mike. However you will also need to consider on a 45 storey tower.
What levels are the intermediate M&E plant rooms and which floors do they serve.
Is it proposed to use prefabricated modular riser systems (I would recommend this) and how big are they - how many floors does each riser module cover.
Can the design incorporate prefabricated modular M&E systems of the floor services.
And lastly and most importantly, just how are you going to get the plant, equipment and tradesmen to the relevant floor efficiently.
Hi,
I think that we did a couple of examples a while ago:

Hi Arun
For all MEP systems there are a number of key construction stages that have to be linked to the MEP tasks.
So for EACH and EVERY system set up the following START milestone linked to the structure.
1. Construction ready for placement of kit.
2. Safe working zone for ceiling and floor zone horizontals.
3. Riser cases built & weather tight
Then add the relevant tasks.
1. Install kit
2. Install ceiling horizontals then floor horizontals in the following sequence:
2.1 Ducting
2.2 Piping
2.3 Cable trays and containment
2.4 IT supports
3. Install systems in risers - using the same sequence
4. Install connection from Kit to Risers
5. Connect risers to horizontals
6. When weatertight pull cables from kit to switchboard
7. When ceiling gris is installed connect to service tiles
8. When foor grid is installed connect to service tiles
9. When partitions are in place install vertical conuits and boxes
10. When ready go back and second fix
11. When power and other services are connected and all systems are closed up start commissioning for each level - allow 5 working days
12. When all level tests are complete and no other trades are in the structure start project commissioning - allow at least 30 working days
As far as landscaping work is concerned they can only start when:
1. The scaffolding is down
2. Access and storage areas are minimised
This will allow the main areas to start - you will need a final section once your site is clear of all cabins and temporaray access roads are removed.
Best regards
