It is inimitable that our industry is link to many challenges and personal issues is not far to it. I somewhat sickened when some team members prefer to keep off in mending other related departmental issues specially if their contributions become the solution. But to us as we cover the PM concepts to its extent this is becoming a threat to project success.
I agree with you that keeping a positive outlook and focusing in making it happen is the lead to follow.
BTW, my first name is not Ravi. I will be happy if you just address me as R. Catalan in PP.
Best regards,

I understand what you are saying because I worked in KSA for 6 years. I can assure you that it is the best place to work IMHO because you get experience in running the largest projects on earth. (Depending on what where you work of course)
It is part of the challenge and you have to adapt. I agree that you have to spend time to develop friendship and my advice is to put your opponents on your team. Let them be part of your team and give them challenges to complete. Spend you time with concentrating on the positive side of the experience and making it happen.

Samer,
People from other GCC cities will find it difficult adapting to cultures in Saudi Arabia, unless if someone is currently biting the dust.
But better than returning to your home country I guess.
Best regards,
