Hi Kamal,

I agree with Mike and Santhosh, but I would suggest the question to be:

What is the "method of statement" used to develop the "method statement"? I believe this has another meaning and relevance.

cheers

Hi Mike,

Hahaha .Thats a good answer Mike.

I was tired of hearing people using ’Method of statement’ instead of Method statement.

Whatever i mentioned in my earlier post is all about "method statement".

There is nothing called "method of statement".

hi kumar,

do you mean that the method of statement is the work instructions and procedures required to do certain activity along with the health & safety, quality and specifications.... but method statement is the breakdown or steps needed to make one activity on a schedule??? Am I right???

thanks,

kamal.

Hi Kamal

Method Statement is how you do the work.

Method of Statement is not a term I have heard before this thread - the only logical meaning is what method you use the draft the statement - pencil or ballpoint or keyboard.

Hi Kamal,

To me Method statement is a detail of the activities that you have in the planning(Schedule). For eg:You have an activity like erection of steel structure in the schedule. The Method statement will have all the details like how to do it, where you place the crane, safety measures etc.So a planner need not necessarily know all these things.

by the way Kamal, "method of statement" is different from "method statement" regardless if the same person made both

a "method statement" maybe done by a specialist who knows the job (as Mike said); this specialist does not necessarily need to use or to know the software for scheduling

Hi Kamal

In most cases the method Statement precedes the plan.

The person who plans the work should draft the Method Statement.

That is not necessarily the same person who worked the software who may have just scheduled someone elses plan.

Thank you Mike,

in fact i know what method of statemnt is but my question is it neccessary that the planner should be the one who writes or prepares the method of statments taking into consideration that in some projects you will have all engineering disciplines there, so no way that the planner knows method of statemnt for civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentations. am i right? please clarify.

thanks and regards,

kamal.

Hi Kamal

A Method Statement is a narrative that explains how the project is going to be built.

Think of the programme as the picture and the Method Statement as the words.
