Dear Shiva,
If you want to understand the theory, then you need to solve few examples by hand. This you can download from plenty of site on the net.
CPM is easy to understand once you have done it yourself. Try to find 10 activities example and do it yourself from start to finish and try to add the delays, extensions of time, acceleration, cost impact, etc.
