Another parameter with some importance for you may be the rate source - for each assignment decide if price is derived from the resource’s rate or the budgeted price.

Hi Cristina,



In my experienced, when your Resource’s Price/Unit is equal to Zero (0), the Budgeted Cost will automatically equal to zero when you applied any "Global Change" or "Recalculate Assignment Cost". I think this is the reason why your cost was disappeared.



In order not to affect your cost-loaded assign to the activities, prior to assign any resources with zero price/unit, in the Resources Details tab, remove the check box next to "Calculate cost from units" then you can now assign the resources.



Otherwise, you can set your Budgeted Units equal to Budgeted Cost and set your Price/Unit equal to One (1). Or you can try to utilize the Project Expenses.



You can try this and let us know.

In some cases, the "is under" and "equals" are similar. If you don’t mind, can you tell us in detail what happen why your budgeted data disappear?



As I have mentioned in my previous post that, if you had just assigned a curve to your resource using global change then the cost should not disappear.

In the case of Cristina, if she has a baseline schedule assigned to the current schedule or she kept a backup copy of the baseline then yes she can recover the budget data from the baseline to the current schedule. If how? Then there are two ways to perform the procedure:



1. By using the Update Baseline. This is little bit complicated.

2. By using the Import/Export --> Spreadsheet - (XLS). This is the easiest way.

i may be wrong but given no changes in activity ids, she can definitely use the budget from the baseline and transfer them.

Assuming no longer the budget data is there because the global change erased the data; can you transfer the budget from a baseline schedule?



Usually the budget amounts from a baseline to updates does not changes by much, is on actual and progress where most of the changes are.



If Cristina has a baseline schedule with your help a lot of time might be saved.

I guess you have done something wrong. If you had just assigned a curve to your resource using global change then the cost should not disappear. The parameter should look like this:



Select Subject Area "Activity Resource Assignments"

Where: Resource ID Name "is under" "Resource ID"

Then: Curve "=" Bell Shaped

You can backup your database as per the following reference,

This will backup all your jobs and enterprise data.



You can also keep separate individual copies of individual jobs in your database, this will be faster, and only specific job data will be stored within your database, your enterprise data will not be backed up.



Backup your database to another hard disk.

One reason I can think of is the source file you imported doesn’t have the budget data or delete row is turn on.



You could go back to the source file and check it if it contains the budger data you can restore it all again.



Unfortunately there is no way you can recover the data, there’s no undo function. What you can do to prevent it from happening again is before you do any global change be sure that you keep a back up for security.
