Global Change in P6

Hi Pat,



I am sorry for my previous post, you cannot assign resources to your activities using global change. You can only replace resources.

Hi Pat,



In order to assign resources to your activities using the activity code as your reference.



I presumed that you had already assigned the activity code to your activities. Add a new global change, rename & modify. Now, try this parameters:



Select Subject Area: "Activity Resource Assignment"



If:

"Activity Code" "is under" "Code Value"



Then:

Resource ID Name " = " Resource Name or ID"



I would suggest that it is better to use the "Assign Resource" rather than the Global Change. It is very easy..

Add Resource functionality is not available in P6 as it was in P3. No need to use global change. They have made it very easy now.



Run the required filter and then select activity and assign the required resources.

Hi Imran,



Unfortunately, you cannot add resource using global change. You can add resources using PM SDK with help of Dictionary6x.

hi Imran,



i am having almost a similar problem as you are in the global change of P6 i would like to post an additional query in relation with yours as you can see i have assigned activity codes in my activities and i am trying to use global change to assign specific resources to activities that has a particular activity code it goes like this



ex. my activity is excavation... i assigned 022020 as an activity code for that activity then in using global change i want to assign resources such as Foreman and laborer to activities with an activity code of 022020 but unfortunately in the subject area of the global change window i cant figure out how to cross subject areas such as activity, Activity resource assignments and project expense.. i am hoping we can get some support here from our fellow planners...
