In 2007 I did prepared Finishing construction schedule of a small 100 Beds Hospital having linked activities of Civil Finishing, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Furnishing, External Works, MEP Equipment Installation minus the Structural and Hospital Equipment.



Like you said that you have to tackle the non-professional people; the same case was mine as they were even relectuant to build this schedule in Primavera so for their ease I did prepared in MS Project.

My suggestion is that if you are dealing with non-professional people make it as simple as possible. keep the detailes for yourselg and present them a high level shcedule which gives them an idea how the work will be done! but for your own reference, make sure of MEP activities which are some how different in hospital with residential buildings. also be careful about procurement period of equipment & furnitures.
