If you just want to compare the baseline start and finish from another (older) file with the current start and finish in the newer file you can just copy and paste the baseline start and baseline finish fields from the older and paste them into corresponding fields in the newer file.

This assumes that you still have the same number of tasks in the same arrangement with the same ID numbers in both files, but even if not it is still easy with a bit of help from filters etc.

which MS Project are you using? in MSP 2007 and if I remember well with 2003 too, go to View, Toolbars, and display the "Compare projects" bar (or something equivalent, as I am translating from the French

Alex,

Thanks for your input, so MS.Project can not import a baseline from other file. My problem is I want to compare the current schedule with one of my scenario when developed the schedule. thanks

in MS Project, baseline is part of the current projet;

Click Tools, Tracking, Save baseline (Define baseline in MSP2007)
