P3 TO P6

Dear Planners,

I have recently attend a P6 training. It was 102 but the audiance consisted of qualified and experienced P3 users. So the the course become between 102 & 106. The instructor exhausted from us :)

I am good at P3 and the CPM nature. The P6 is a brilliant software which will save us from btrieve database system and create good systems wit a little bit IT info.

My recommendation is that never take the course 102. It is so basic (opening a file, saving a layer vs.). There are new things to learn and a introduction to P6 but it is not essential for a P3 user.

The best would be start using P6 and try to learn by yourself. You can find manuals et. from web. I cannot say anymore due to copyright issues (different from other PP users). After having experience ask for 106 course which will contain the methodology management, claim digger and detailed course. You can also ask for the missing points from your instructor.

Best Regards,

Safak

Hi Balu,

As what Mr. Gary said, me too, I didn’t go for training. I did it by my own. If you are really enthusiasm to learn, well you need to put an effort and give time in practicing.

Of course, training makes you more easy than self study. Anyway, it’s up to you.

Regards,

Arnold

I’m self-learning.

Haven’t got heavily enough into P6 yet to know for sure if an official training course will be a waste of money, but so far I haven’t found anything too difficult to work out.

Of course so far I’ve really just been learning how to make P6 do what P3 does. The training course I imagine would be very useful in learning the new functionality in P6 that wasn’t in P3.

I’ll probably get training, but it’s not stopping me using P6 in the meantime.

Cheers,

G
