really complicated. If I understand correct then the P6 plan of your planner (with WBS assigned) is from the same origin as the updated P3 plan (without WBS). The Activity Ids should be the same.

When you import a P3 plan you can indicate to update an existing P6 project and which attributes to be updated.

Manual assignment of the WBS you can make easier:

- Show the column "WBS"

- Within that column you can assign

- "Fill Down" works within that column

Hope that I understood your question.

Good luck!

Dieter,

Its a bit complicated one of the planners working for me copied the out of date schedule from P3 and built up the WBS in that schedule, I then copied the updated Schedule 300 plus more activities with resources, actuals and logic from p3 to 6.2, so in effect 2 schedules virtually the same ( different file names) with the same activity id’s, Anyway have now managed to copy the wbs into the new schedule without duplicating activities, my problem now is the wbs has not been assigned to the new schedule activity ID’s, So i have been trying to export from the old wbs into excel which is working and importing into the new schedule again wbs which is not working as its importing okay but still not assigned to activity Id’s, i have evem tried going back to P3 and using project.xls to build up the WBS unfortunately my 6.2 wbs is 18 charachters so the variable is to long for p3, any help would be appreciated as i ahve started assigning the wbs manually to each activity ( only 4000 to go)

Please explain how you did that copy. I assume some misunderstanding.

Thanks ,

i ahd already done that but when i import i am enfding up with duplicate activities, if i don’t mark the activities box then i end up with the WBS not being assigned to the activities, thanks anyway

Gary,

Open two projects at the same time, and then can copy and paste WBS from one project to another.

Also, in the Copy WBS Options box, mark the items you want to include in the copied WBS.

Hope the above helps,

Regards,

R. Catalan
