Hi Amr

With linear projects such as roads and pipelines the work progresses along the chainage so the sequence that Samer has descibed will have to be repeated in sequence along maneageable lengths of the road.

A key factor is the planning and sequencing of haul roads for cut & fill - particularly if they are on the carriageway.

Another consideration is that drainage pipes are generally laid "Up Gradient" which may be contrary to the flow of work for the other tasks.

I would suggest the use of Tilos software for such linear projects although a similar effect can be gained by using PowerProject in "Task per Line" mode.

The main rule in planning is that if you don’t know how to build ask someone who does - not just fromm PP but somenoe nearer your project.

Best regards

Dear Amr,

In three minutes of less,

1. Both will have the following logical sequence.

I. Soil Investigation.

II. Design Drawings.

III. Site Survey.

IV. Material Submittals

V. Shop drawings submittals

VI. Material procurement.

2. In more details:

Road Works

1. Complete cut and fill

2. Fill in layers and testing

3. Install services (E/M)

4. Complete wearing surface (Asphate, Interlocking, concrete)

Infrastructure:

1. Complete Mechanical works

2. Complete Electrical works.

You will need to get with your team members and create the WBS for the works. It depends on the scope outlined in your contract.

With kind regards,

Samer
